Aegle marmelos  also commonly known in Sri Lanka as Beli, is a species of tree native to Southeast Asia which many beliefs that can treat various illnesses in traditional medicine. Many Sri Lankans enjoy a cup of the beli mal herbal tea with a piece of kithul jaggery. It is a common belief that it treats asthma, indigestion, heartburn, and relieving palpitations.
Hence the Leos decided on giving a bei mal dansala on the 16th of July 2019 at the Parama Dhamma Niketharanaramaya Temple.

We prepared the herbal drink with the support of our brother Leo Dhanusha. The pan filled with water stood on a three brick cooker made by the leos while some Leos' was ensuring the flames do not reduce the others were cleaning the needed utensils. The kithul jaggery was cut into small pieces and the stand to give away the belimal drink was kept ready near the gates of the temple. With the temple packed with many observing sil we were able to give away the herbal drink to over 100 people.

The Leos moved onto the outside of the temple premises to distribute the herbal drinks to the residence of the area. We were visited by many Leos from our district including the District Chairman for Leos Lion Anura Goonetilleke also enjoyed a cup of the delicious beli mal tea. As the sunset and it was getting darker we were able to complete the project successfully.

ONE VOTE = ONE PLANT

By- Leo Chanakya Ranasinghe One vote one plant challenge is a project initiated by the  Leo Club of Polgasowita in line with the Presidential polls of 2019 which was held on November 16th. Usually the presidential elections ends up with a massive environmental destruction which is caused by various sources such as posters, leaflets, firecrackers and etc. But we as Leos thought of creating a positive trend across the youth and the general public by creating a social media challenge to plant one tree for a vote given by them. This challenge required the participants to plant a tree at the election day and post a picture with the hashtag #OnevoteOneplantchallenge and each and every post was featured by the Facebook and Instagram pages of Leo Club of Polgasowita. Lets Roar for "Mini Roars" - A club fundraiser

But as Leos of Polgasowita, we thought of giving you a symbol to remind you of the great work you render to the society. A simple and Sweet key tag with a lion - MINI ROARS is a fundraiser we initiated aiming Leos as well as non-Leos to collect funds as well as to spread awareness on the Leo Moment out into the public. The specialty of this fundraiser is all these key tags were handmade and purchased from a small business we contacted through Facebook and through this fundraiser we were able to help a family to earn an income by purchasing these key tags too. These key tags were purchased by different clubs in big quantities to provide them to their Leos to present them as a token of appreciation for their hard work which indeed shows the popularity of this fundraiser among the Leos.

Generations- A day for kids and the elders.

        By- Leo Disali Gunasekere Morning prayers ‘ Generations’ , a project done by us, was organized with the view of celebrating World Children’s and Elders day. The specialty of this project was the fact that both world children’s day and elders' day was celebrated together. It was held at S.S. Marian John Senior Home Pita Kotte. The morning started with an opening prayer, boosting up the energy of the young as well as old souls.  After the blessings we proceeded on to the singing session where sheets of printed papers were distributed among the crowd. Songs were selected by the knowledge gathered through the many visits which was done before the day of the project. බහු භූතයෝ - Fun filled Halloween night

 By - Leo Chanakya Ranasinghe බහු භූතයෝ Celebrating Halloween is not something usually done in Sri Lanka, yet the new trend is slowly sweeping into the lives of the modern generation. We thought of this to be the perfect opportunity to hold on tight to the strong bond within the Leos of A2.  බහු භූතයෝ was organized jointly with our fellow Leo Club, Leo Club of Kalubowila. With Leo Malika as Chairperson, Leo Disali as project secretary, and Leo Chamika as project treasurer the night of horrors and fun was planned under the guidance of the club presidents. The initial idea has been generated from Leo Dinendri the team pooled in with many of their thoughts to ensure that this night was one to remember. A Sri Lankan themed Halloween night where a Yakinna and the Yakha of the night was to be crowned. Garage Sale- A fundraiser like Never before

But some others do appreciate old clothes, ornaments, shoes, and other items and they love to collect things which have a value and a story behind them. Leos of Polgasowita was in search of a good fundraising project which will help us to generate funds as well as with a positive social impact. our member Leo Gayami Weerasinghe came up with the idea of a "Garage sale" which was a perfect idea for a fundraiser and also a great way to manage waste within our homes by introducing the concept of "One man's trash can be another man's treasure".
