Lions Tree Planting Program

Leo Chanya planting a tree Having known the importance of planting trees for a better tomorrow, Lions of District 306A2, organized a Tree Planting Project under the guidance and leadership of Governor Lion Kumudu Kithisri, where all Leos of District 306A2 were invited to attend.  This project was held on 29th of September at Shakya Kingdom Piliyandala. Many Leos of District 306A2 such as Leo club of SLTC, Piliyandala, USJP, UOM, Kesbewa, Kalubowila and Polgasowita participated in this project. Leos of Polgasowita are hands down “nature lovers” and more than anyone else, we were excited and looking forward for this day. Leo Malika and Disali planting a tree There were more than 100 plants to be planted on that day and a lot of hands were definitely needed to achieve the goal of the day. ONE VOTE = ONE PLANT

By- Leo Chanakya Ranasinghe One vote one plant challenge is a project initiated by the  Leo Club of Polgasowita in line with the Presidential polls of 2019 which was held on November 16th. Usually the presidential elections ends up with a massive environmental destruction which is caused by various sources such as posters, leaflets, firecrackers and etc. But we as Leos thought of creating a positive trend across the youth and the general public by creating a social media challenge to plant one tree for a vote given by them. This challenge required the participants to plant a tree at the election day and post a picture with the hashtag #OnevoteOneplantchallenge and each and every post was featured by the Facebook and Instagram pages of Leo Club of Polgasowita. Leos as well as the general public provided enthusiastic support to this challenge planting trees across the country. Not only that.
